  • Kate Tomlinson, LCMHC

I enjoy working with older female adolescents and women who may be coping with a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, or PTSD. I enjoy working with those who may be currently experiencing difficult or abusive relationships, are working through past traumatic experiences, or adjusting to major life changes. I also have specialized training in working with women who may be going through a hard time while pregnant or experiencing postpartum depression or anxiety.

    Collaborative Treatment

I am committed to providing the best treatment for my clients, which I believe requires collaboration with and feedback from my clients to ensure their counseling needs are being met. In sessions, I work mostly from a person-centered, strengths-based framework, and I utilize techniques from solution-focused therapy. To put it more simply, I believe counseling is about the client’s journey and needs. You are the expert on your own life and I hope to provide a different perspective through asking questions and making observations.

I understand that it is difficult to share such personal information with someone you have only just met. It is important to me to provide a nonjudgmental space where my clients can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, and challenges. I adjust my approach to best suit each client; different people need different things, one size does not fit all.

    Cultural Context

I strive to provide culturally competent counseling for clients facing many different life circumstances and mental health concerns. No matter your race, identity, sexuality, and/or religion, I will work hard to understand my clients’ unique experiences related to their culture and identities, and take them into consideration when planning counseling goals and interventions.  I also welcome working with individuals and couples who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community in particular.

    About Me

I completed my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida in 2020. I also received a Certificate in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from the University of Central Florida in 2020.

In my free time, I love to bake (and eat the things I have baked!). I especially love baking cookies. Every holiday season, I bake about five different types of cookies to share with my family and friends.
