Emily Britton, MA,
(She/They)
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here and considering beginning your therapeutic journey.
My Approach
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of meaningful change. I strive to meet clients where they are, tailoring my approach to each person’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. I aim to create a space that feels safe, comfortable, and at times lighthearted, while still supporting deep reflection and personal growth. My goal is to help you move toward becoming the best version of yourself.
I use an eclectic theoretical framework that draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside person-centered, Gestalt, and strengths-based approaches. I am also continuing to develop skills in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Narrative Therapy. All of my clinical work is grounded in a feminist lens that honors the impact of intersectional identities on one’s lived experience.
Clinical Interests
I enjoy working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting stress, trauma/PTSD, and relationship challenges. As an LGBTQIA+ identifying and affirming therapist, I am deeply committed to creating a supportive, empowering space where clients can explore their identities and experiences without judgment.
I particularly enjoy working with adolescents as they transition from childhood into early adulthood, and mothers adjusting to early motherhood or seeking balance between parenting responsibilities and their sense of self. Supporting clients through these pivotal life stages is especially meaningful to me.
About Me
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a concentration in LGBTQIA+ Studies, from William James College. I previously studied Psychology and Gender Studies at the University of Vermont.
During graduate school, I completed internships in college counseling centers, supporting students as they navigated mental health concerns alongside academic stressors, and in outpatient settings working with individuals navigating early sobriety. I have also worked in settings focused on providing healthcare and social support to marginalized communities, including reproductive healthcare access and services for survivors of sexual violence.
In my free time I enjoy spending time outdoors walking or running. I also love painting, gaming, experimenting with new coffee brewing techniques, and getting lost in a great fantasy novel!
