“It isn’t where I am, it’s where I will go from here”
I enjoy working with those navigating issues including anxiety, depression and those working to recover from childhood and other kinds of traumatic experiences. I am certified in CPT (cognitive processing therapy) to help process trauma and manage symptoms of PTSD. I also utilize CBT and DBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy) which are evidenced based therapies used to help those struggling with a range of clinical concerns.
I have a strong passion for supporting those who are going through the major life transition that is parenthood. The postpartum period and early parenting years cannot be summed up in one word, and can create all kinds of feelings, both positive and negative, that you may have never experienced before. I am passionate about working with those going through this time, supporting, validating and normalizing your unique experience, and helping you get to know yourself again, and moving forward with all of these new changes in your life. I have training through Postpartum Support international, and I am currently working on getting my PMH-C certification.
Coming to therapy and asking for help can be a scary but wonderful thing. I believe that we all have stories to share, and chapters in our lives that may be more difficult than others. By sharing these moments, gaining skills and tools to navigate these feelings, situations and changing events in our lives we can move forward in our lives without feeling stuck in the past. Working through these changes and challenges, including things like loss, growth, negative and positive events in your life can empower you to make the best choices for you. I would love to be a guide, support person and hand to hold while you grow and learn about this next chapter in your life.
About Me
I received my Bachelors in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire, and went on to get my Masters in Social Work from the University of New England. I completed my internship at CREATE in Manchester, New Hampshire, where I found I was able to combine my love of theater with therapy, and I love incorporating creative arts within treatment. I have worked with a wide range of populations, including supervising/supporting visitation with parents and their non-custodial children, as well as doing case management and later behavioral work with adults with developmental disabilities, then transitioned into a therapist role. I also work with people managing peri and postnatal challenges, LGBTQ+ individuals and people with significant trauma history. When not working I love spending time with my family, including my three dogs, doing anything outside and going to barre and yoga classes. I love reading, writing, watching movies and musicals, and I am always happy to learn more about others interests outside of my own!
